From the City to the Sea
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
From the City to the Sea (formerly known as the Inner City Youth Boating Association) provides a series of environmentally based, age-appropriate, learning activities and field trips for youngsters age 10–17. Conducted both on and offsite by highly trained, dedicated personnel, this program provides hands-on activities and workshops in environmental conservation and preservation, utilizing fully developed curriculum that are in line with California Science Standards.
EXCURSIONS
Cabrillo Beach Aquarium: youths will participate in the Sea Search Marine Biology workshops at the Cabrillo Beach Aquarium.
Aquarium of the Pacific: youths will have a day trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach where they will participate in age appropriate workshops such as Mysteries of the Deep, Wet and Wild and Aquacology and Frozen
Malibu Lagoon State Beach: participants will spend a day exploring the tide pools and lagoon
Ballona Wetlands & Ballona Discovery Park: participants will participate in a guided tour of this local wetland and play and discovery in their discovery park zone.
The SEA Lab: participants will visit the LA Conservation Corps’ SEA Lab in Redondo beach where they will participate in discovery workshops
Cabrillo Beach Clean-Up: Our youths will participate in a Beach Clean Up as part of a mandatory Stewards Activity
Boating Trade Show: Youths may have the opportunity to take part in boating shows
Compton to Catalina: Through CCFEI’s continued partnership with Edison, students may have the opportunity to take a day trip to Catalina where they will tour the island, the Edison Plant and ride aboard a semi-submersible.
PROGRAM CYCLE
Excursions take place in 3 month cycles, students must commit to 2 Saturdays per month outings. All meals are provided!
