Beyond Organic Design's pedagogical approach uses permaculture as a tool for peace-building and literacy development. Our trained and certified educators passionately facilitate and co-teach student populations of diverse backgrounds.

Monica Ibacache, CEO and Founder of Beyond Organic Design, is a community organizer and ecological designer based in New York City. An avid gardener growing up with her grandparents in Chile, she continued to grow food while living in southeast Alaska, and later as a certified permaculture designer in the United States. Monica is committed to improving food systems while advancing social and environmental justice globally. As a woman of color, Monica has a special place in her heart for teaching in diverse and marginalized communities.

Beyond Organic Design (BOD) is urban sustainability education nonprofit offering hands-on, year-round programming designed to help students understand the real-world value of sustainable ecological design.
